Job Description

Overview

The University of Illinois Foundation is seeking an Investment Analyst to join its Investment Office in Chicago. This role is integral to managing a multibillion-dollar endowment, collaborating with senior team members on various investment responsibilities while supporting operations and conducting analysis on prospective and existing investments.

Key responsibilities

  • Support senior team members in managing the endowment across investment responsibilities
  • Prepare written and analytic materials for investment recommendations
  • Research and analyze existing and prospective investment opportunities
  • Participate in meetings with investment managers
  • Monitor and update reports on investment performance and portfolio analytics
  • Assist in writing investment memos and preparing materials for Investment Policy Committee meetings
  • Maintain database integrity across systems used for portfolio analysis
  • Engage in discussions regarding asset allocation and risk management
  • Stay current on capital markets and financial news
  • Travel to manager meetings as needed
  • Complete other ad hoc projects as directed by the Investment Team

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree with strong academic achievement
  • Demonstrated interest in equities, finance, and investing
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to present information in an understandable format
  • Strong ethics and integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • One-to-two years of work experience preferred
  • Progress towards CFA designation is a plus
  • Proficiency with Python or a comparable statistical program is a plus
