Overview

Your Role as the Activity DirectorSkilled NursingAmericare Senior Living is seeking a creative, organized, and compassionate Activity Director to lead resident engagement programs within our skilled nursing community. In this role, you'll plan, organize, facilitate, and direct recreational and therapeutic activities that promote residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.You'll also play a key role in documentation and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure activities align with individualized resident needs and regulatory requirements.SummaryThe Activity Director is responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive resident engagement program, including activity planning, calendar development, documentation, and team collaboration. This role supports quality of life and person-centered care while meeting state and federal guidelines.This role may also be known as:Activity Director, Activities Director, Life Enrichment Director, or Recreation Director.What You'll DoPlan, organize, facilitate, and direct recreational activity programs for residentsDevelop, publish, and maintain a monthly activity calendarEnsure activities align with resident abilities, interests, and care plansLead group and individual activities that promote engagement and socializationParticipate in resident assessments and care planning as part of the interdisciplinary teamDocument resident participation, responses, and progress in charts and periodic reportsCommunicate resident reactions, progress, or regression to medical staff and care team membersCoordinate special events, celebrations, and community activitiesSupervise and support activity staff and volunteers as applicableUphold Americare's Mission, Vision, Hometown Hospitality , and F.A.M.I.L.Y. valuesWhat You BringQualificationsMust be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma required; additional education related to recreation, activities, or life enrichment preferred but not requiredPrevious experience planning and managing a recreational activity program in a senior living or healthcare setting preferredStrong organizational, communication, and leadership skillsAbility to document accurately and collaborate with clinical and care teamsPhysical DemandsLift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as neededPush, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistanceManeuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.Safety RequirementsFollow proper resident handling and safety proceduresUtilize required PPE and safety equipmentAdhere to safe driving practices when transporting residentsReport work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentationWork EnvironmentThis role is performed in a skilled nursing environment, including resident rooms, common areas, activity spaces, and occasional community outing locations.Join Americare Senior Living and lead meaningful engagement programs that bring connection, purpose, and joy to residents every day.Equal Opportunity EmployerAmericare Senior Living is committed to equal employment opportunities and welcomes applicants from all walks of life.
