Overview

The Academic Program Director for the Graduate Nursing Program at South University is a faculty member with administrative responsibilities, focusing on managing the program's operations and ensuring student success. The role involves instructional duties, faculty management, budget oversight, and strategic planning to support enrollment growth and program excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform instructional duties as assigned
  • Select and develop the Program Advisory Committee
  • Participate in faculty development annually
  • Manage and lead regular and adjunct faculty
  • Administer and grow the assigned academic program
  • Oversee budget, strategic planning, and curriculum development
  • Support college programs for student completion rates
  • Collaborate with other Academic Program Directors on scheduling and resource sharing
  • Arrange faculty development opportunities
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as determined by the Campus Dean and Department Chair

Required skills

  • Academic leadership experience in a university setting
  • Ph.D. in Nursing or DNSc; C-FNP
  • Recent practice experience
  • Full-time teaching experience in a university, online teaching experience is a plus
  • Ability to interpret accreditation criteria and regulations
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Presentation skills for faculty and academic leaders
  • Experience with computerized administrative systems
  • Proficient in standard office applications
