Job Description

Overview

The Special Education Teacher for Grades 6-8 at Denver Language School is responsible for delivering high-quality special education services to middle school students with disabilities. This role involves implementing IEP goals, collaborating with general education teachers, and ensuring compliance with educational regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and manage IEPs in compliance with regulations
  • Deliver IEP service minutes through push-in and pull-out models
  • Implement accommodations and modifications in partnership with general education teachers
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress toward IEP goals
  • Communicate proactively with families regarding student progress
  • Collaborate as a member of the student support team
  • Support students' academic growth and social-emotional development

Required skills

  • Valid Special Education License (or on track to obtain)
  • Strong knowledge of special education compliance requirements
  • Ability to implement IEP goals and accommodations with fidelity
  • Clear and professional communication with staff and families
  • Student-centered and supportive approach
  • Strong organizational and case management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
