Job Description

Overview

Cocoon House is seeking a Youth Housing Support Staff (Swing Shift) to provide a safe and supportive environment for teens at their Transitional Living Program in Everett, Washington. The role involves building supportive relationships with youth, promoting positive interactions, and facilitating life skills and other enrichment activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Build supportive relationships with youth and staff
  • Maintain and model healthy and safe boundaries with youth
  • Assess emergency situations and provide proper support
  • Follow mandating reporting and licensing policies and procedures
  • De-escalate youth in crises using trauma-informed care
  • Process intakes and exits for youth and maintain accurate records
  • Supervise youth and ensure safety while enforcing policies
  • Assisting youth with household tasks and maintaining cleanliness
  • Provide meals and assist with grocery shopping and planning
  • Transport youth to appointments as needed
  • Participate in planning enrichment activities

Required skills

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months experience working with youth
  • Ability to diffuse escalated youth situations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to operate phone and computer for record keeping
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Familiarity with local services for youth support
