Overview

The Youth Adventure Staff at Whetstone Academy are responsible for guiding students on weekend trips that enhance their cultural awareness and personal growth. They play a vital role in creating a supportive and nurturing environment while supervising students during various outdoor activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Guide students on safe weekend trips, including local outings and overnight camping
  • Provide a nurturing environment and close supervision of students
  • Utilize natural and logical consequences to hold students accountable
  • Employ relationship and counseling skills effectively
  • Complete necessary student documentation
  • Attend and complete all mandatory training

Required skills

  • Love working with children
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with youth
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work doubles during the day and overnight on weekends
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Pass a background check
