Overview

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse to provide specialized patient care for those with ostomies and complex wound issues. This role emphasizes collaboration within a supportive environment, aiming to enhance patient outcomes through effective nursing practices and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Key responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to deliver quality care for patients with ostomies and complex wounds
  • Act as a consultant and facilitator within the healthcare team
  • Support the prevention and management of pressure ulcers and skin disorders
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments
  • Implement processing of patients through the healthcare continuum
  • Support System and Nursing Strategic Plans and Relationship-Based Care

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Registered nursing license in the State of Maryland
  • Minimum of four years of medical/surgical nursing experience
  • Certification by the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses (WOCN) Society when eligible
  • Knowledge of nursing practice trends and human growth and development stages
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under stress
  • Ability to prioritize workloads
