Overview

The Workholding Application Specialist at Mate Precision Technologies plays a vital role in supporting metalworking professionals by applying technical knowledge and creative problem-solving to enhance machining processes. This position focuses on evaluating customer applications, developing innovative workholding concepts, and delivering exceptional technical support, all while fostering a collaborative environment with both customers and the sales team.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer applications by assessing their machining and forming environments.
  • Analyze key machining factors including material type and clamping method.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to understand their manufacturing challenges.
  • Create engineering concept drawings and 3D CAD models for recommended solutions.
  • Prepare formal quotations including pricing and lead times.
  • Provide pre-sale and post-sale technical support in partnership with the sales team.
  • Develop knowledge of press brake tooling and forming applications through training.
  • Diagnose and solve customer challenges beyond traditional workholding.
  • Deliver exceptional technical service reflecting the company's reputation for customer care.
  • Model company values of reliability, honesty, and accountability.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4 years of experience with multi-axis VMC/HMC machining
  • Strong knowledge of workholding principles and clamping mechanics
  • Understanding of cutting tool design and machining applications
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Excellent spatial reasoning and math skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
