Overview

Mate Precision Technologies is looking for a Workholding Application Specialist to join their team in Anoka, Minnesota. This role is suitable for customer-focused professionals with a passion for machining and precision manufacturing, and requires collaboration with customers and the sales team to develop innovative solutions for machining challenges.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer applications by assessing machining and forming environments.
  • Analyze key machining factors including material type, removal rate, and clamping method.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their manufacturing challenges.
  • Create engineering concept drawings, sketches, and 3D CAD models.
  • Prepare formal quotations including pricing and lead times.
  • Provide pre-sale and post-sale technical support in partnership with the sales team.
  • Develop knowledge of press brake tooling and forming applications.
  • Diagnose and solve customer challenges beyond traditional Workholding.
  • Deliver exceptional technical service that reflects the company's reputation.
  • Recommend solutions based on product and process knowledge.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with multi-axis VMC/HMC machining
  • Strong knowledge of workholding principles and clamping mechanics
  • Experience with cutting tool design and machining applications
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Excellent spatial reasoning skills
  • Strong math skills related to force and tolerances
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
