Job Description

Overview

Custom Engineering Company is seeking skilled 1st and 2nd shift Welders/Fitters for plate and structural fabrication work in Erie, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidates will have expertise in various welding techniques and the ability to read shop drawings to ensure quality fabrication for diverse industries.

Key responsibilities

  • Fit plate, structural material, and pipe utilizing shop drawings and specifications
  • Use torches to cut and cope beams, cut and bevel plates, and heat straighten parts
  • Perform welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions with various materials
  • Produce consistent welds according to shop drawings and customer specifications
  • Follow welding procedure specifications (WPS) and check weld sizes
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts as needed to move parts in the shop

Required skills

  • Knowledge of welding processes including FCAW, MCAW, MIG, Stick, TIG, and SAW
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings
  • Basic math skills
  • Crane and forklift operation experience
  • 1 - 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Trade certification or equivalent experience
  • Authorized to work in the US
