Overview

Mid-City Scrap, LLC, a trusted name in metal recycling in New England since the 1930s, is seeking a Welder to join their operations in Westport, Massachusetts. The Welder will be responsible for various welding and fabrication tasks to support recycling operations, focusing on equipment repair and structural reinforcement in an industrial setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and stick welding on carbon steel and structural components
  • Torch cut and prepare metal equipment
  • Fabricate and repair scrap boxes, containers, and hoppers, guards, brackets, frames, walkways, handrails, and supports
  • Conduct structural repairs on conveyors, balers, and processing equipment
  • Reinforce worn or damaged equipment components to extend service life
  • Assist maintenance team with repairs on processing equipment and mobile equipment attachments
  • Support preventive maintenance and emergency repair work as needed
  • Modify or build custom solutions to improve safety or productivity
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
  • Communicate equipment condition, repair status, and maintenance priorities to supervisors

Required skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Technical certification or trade school training preferred
  • 2-5 years' experience as a welder
  • MA 2A1C Hoisting licensing a plus
