Overview

Wegmans is seeking a Security Officer for their Ithaca, NY location, focused on maintaining a safe environment for customers and employees. The role involves collaboration with store leadership and the Asset Protection team, utilizing strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety in the store to create a positive environment
  • Analyze trends and data to maximize sales while minimizing theft
  • Monitor activities to prevent loss, including apprehending shoplifters
  • Foster relationships with community partners and emergency responders
  • Coordinate and manage use of Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems
  • Respond to emergency situations and support employees and customers
  • Conduct investigations as directed by leadership

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage conflict and communicate under pressure
  • Technical aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Experience in security and/or loss prevention (preferred)
  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or First Responder experience (preferred)
  • Leadership experience in a retail setting (preferred)
