Overview

Wegmans is seeking a part-time Security Officer for their Ithaca, New York location, committed to maintaining a safe environment for both customers and employees. The role involves monitoring the store, providing escorts when needed, and managing conflicts effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey the outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and/or customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates to ensure high levels of security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment skills and ability to manage conflict
  • Effectively communicate under pressure
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
  • AED, APR and FAC certified (preferred)
