Job Description

Overview

The Weather Forecaster/Observer at RedTown Technical Services, LLC is responsible for conducting meteorological watches, evaluating and disseminating weather observations, and providing critical weather forecasts primarily for aviation purposes. This position is based in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, with a pay structure that includes additional compensation for health and welfare and housing provided by the employer.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform meteorological weather watches
  • Take, evaluate, record, and disseminate surface weather observations using METAR/SPECI
  • Issue Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts and weather warnings, watches, and advisories
  • Monitor radar and satellite imagery
  • Provide DD-175-1 and PIREPs
  • Conduct over-the-counter briefings

Required skills

  • 2 years of aviation forecast experience with a DoD or government agency
  • Prior observation certification with DoD, FAA, or National Weather Service
  • Experience in taking, recording, and disseminating surface weather observations
  • Completion of a DoD formal training program for weather observing and forecasting
  • Ability to operate meteorological and communications equipment
  • Visual acuity correctable to 20/20
  • English language proficiency
