Overview

The Weather Forecaster/Observer at RedTown Technical Services, LLC in Fallon, NV is responsible for performing meteorological weather observations and forecasts essential for aviation safety. This role involves evaluating and disseminating surface weather data, issuing weather advisories, and operating various meteorological equipment while working in a potentially stressful environment influenced by weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform meteorological weather watch and surface weather observations
  • Issue Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts and weather warnings
  • Operate the Pilot to Metro Service and monitor radar/satellite imagery
  • Take and disseminate PIREPs
  • Write DD-175-1s and provide flight weather briefings

Required skills

  • 2 years of aviation forecast experience with a DoD or government agency
  • Prior observation/forecaster certification with DoD, FAA, or NWS
  • Experience using METAR code for surface weather observations
  • Completed DoD formal training for weather observing and forecasting
  • Visual acuity correctable to 20/20
  • Ability to operate meteorological and communications equipment
  • Proficient in English communication

  • Hourly pay begins at $45.65 for Forecaster and $37.35 for Observer
  • $6.75 per hour for Health & Welfare
