Overview

The Water/Wastewater Consultant at Communities Unlimited, Inc. provides onsite technical assistance and training to rural community infrastructure systems addressing water and waste disposal issues. This role involves project planning, financing, utility management, and community engagement, primarily serving the Tuscaloosa area while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide onsite technical assistance to 15-20 rural communities and small water/wastewater systems.
  • Develop, prepare, and submit accurate reports and technical analyses to support community decision-making.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Manage multiple priorities and participate in meetings and special projects.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, social sciences, management, public administration or related field preferr
  • Current Water or Wastewater Operator Certification with 5 years of experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and projects independently.
  • Understanding of financial statements and project budgeting.
  • Attention to detail in work products.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
