Overview

Micron is seeking a Waste Treatment Engineering Designer to manage the design of waste treatment systems for semiconductor manufacturing projects. The role involves overseeing external design firms, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to implement effective waste treatment solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate third-party design firms in developing waste treatment systems for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Review and validate third-party design work for compliance with project requirements and standards.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of designs to verify performance metrics and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with external design teams, contractors, and internal collaborators to align system designs with project timelines.
  • Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party designs.
  • Ensure designs integrate with facility systems using BIM tools.
  • Coordinate implementation of safety and environmental protocols for waste treatment systems.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in design processes for wastewater, chemical, or solid waste treatment systems
  • Strong knowledge of waste treatment design, including chemical neutralization and hazardous waste disposal
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations like EPA's RCRA and Clean Water Act
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables using AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks
  • Experience with control systems such as PLC and SCADA
  • Knowledge of balanced design practices like water recycling and waste-to-energy technologies
