Overview

Johnson Controls is seeking a Warehouse Assistant with Secret clearance to join their federal team in Huntsville, AL. This role is essential for supporting mission-critical operations by ensuring effective tracking and handling of materials, equipment, and assets in a warehouse environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Support inventory control processes including physical counts and record maintenance
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and damage
  • Prepare, package, and label outgoing shipments while coordinating with carriers
  • Perform basic equipment testing and document operational results
  • Process equipment for disposal in accordance with company and federal guidelines
  • Maintain accurate asset and inventory records within tracking systems
  • Ensure the warehouse is clean, safe, and organized with proper storage and labeling
  • Follow all safety procedures and compliance standards in a federal environment

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of experience in warehouse, logistics, or inventory-related role
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory systems, or similar)
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems or asset tracking tools
  • Forklift or material handling equipment experience (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Experience with shipping carriers (FedEx, UPS, freight coordination, etc.)
