Overview

Mastercard is seeking a Vice President of Software Engineering to lead the Decision Management Program, a vital platform that processes transactions and aids in fraud prevention, risk management, and identity verification within their global payments network. This role involves shaping the strategy and modernization of engineering teams across cloud and on-prem environments to deliver high-performance solutions in real-time.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and drive the engineering vision and In-Memory data grid strategy for the Decision Management Platform.
  • Lead and grow global engineering teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
  • Partner with various departments to shape platform direction and execution priorities.
  • Oversee design and development of Java-based distributed systems for fraud prevention.
  • Champion engineering excellence, focusing on reliability, observability, and performance.
  • Improve system uptime, latency, throughput, and deployment efficiency through KPIs.
  • Recruit and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to senior engineers and architects.
  • Implement enhanced engineering processes and best practices.
  • Manage delivery timelines, resource planning, and budgets across programs.

Required skills

  • Strong background in Java and distributed systems architecture.
  • Experience in large-scale, real-time enterprise platforms.
  • Expertise in high volume, low latency transaction processing systems.
  • Experience with In Memory Data Grid technologies like VMware GemFire, Apache Geode, Hazelcast, and Redis.
  • Strong data engineering skills, including real-time pipelines and event streaming.
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid environments and modern DevOps tooling.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in global engineering organizations.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills for diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
