Job Description

Overview

The Vice President, Medical at Larimar Therapeutics will play a critical leadership role in guiding the clinical development activities of the company, which focuses on rare diseases. This executive position requires extensive pharmaceutical industry experience and a strong background in medical affairs, particularly in neurology or cardiology, to ensure the safety of study participants and the integrity of clinical data.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead medical guidance and support for clinical development programs
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations and cross-functional study teams
  • Review and interpret data from clinical studies
  • Partner with Safety and Pharmacovigilance for medical input
  • Support Medical Affairs activities
  • Review and approve clinical development documents
  • Represent Medical at internal meetings
  • Supervise direct reports and external contractors
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory laws and guidance
  • Present medical information at study site visits and congresses
  • Engage with external partners and regulatory bodies

Required skills

  • Medical degree (M.D., D.O.)
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience in neurology and/or rare disease
  • Familiarity with Medical Affairs activities
  • Track record of support in Phase 2 and Phase 3 studies
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Understanding of good clinical practices (GCP)
  • Knowledge of clinical development and regulatory requirements
  • Appreciation of small company culture
