Overview

The Veterinary Nursing Trainer at Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is responsible for developing and implementing training programs for veterinary staff. This role emphasizes mentorship, hands-on training, and the enhancement of skills in emergency medicine while contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to identify individual and team training needs
  • Assess assistants and credentialed technicians through direct observation
  • Drive advancement through VEG's Cultivate program
  • Implement VEG training programs and serve as the training lead
  • Provide tailored, hands-on training for all learning styles
  • Organize peer training opportunities and build a mentoring culture
  • Collaborate with nursing managers to broaden impact
  • Develop and refine training content, including presentations and simulations
  • Evaluate and improve leveling programs for assistants and technicians

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in veterinary technology preferred
  • Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT)
  • High level of knowledge and skill in emergency medicine
  • Previous training experience preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ownership mindset around team growth and development
  • Willingness to travel to other VEG hospitals as needed
