Job Description

Overview

The Utility/Dishwasher position at SSP in Sterling, Virginia plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in our airport restaurants. This role includes a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a positive guest experience and a safe working environment for the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Create a positive guest experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment
  • Remove refuse to designated areas
  • Clear and reset tables in dining areas as needed
  • Scrape food from dirty dishes and wash them by hand or in a dishwasher
  • Clean equipment using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards
  • Assist guests with specific requests and communicate special needs
  • Load/unload supply trucks and manage stock in work areas
  • Stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of food items
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Minimum 6 months' experience in retail or food service environment
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English
  • Experience in guest service problem-solving
  • Food handlers permit as required by law
  • Brand certification as required
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods
