Overview

The US Underground Driller Assistant at Major Drilling supports underground and surface drilling operations, focusing on safety compliance, equipment maintenance, and operational efficiency. The role requires adherence to MSHA regulations, company policies, and specific site procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Support underground drilling operations and ensure safety compliance
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections on UG mobile equipment and drill station tools
  • Perform hazard reporting and participate in safety inductions
  • Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting of drilling equipment
  • Assist in drill rig setup and operational readiness
  • Collect and label core samples accurately
  • Operate heavy equipment and ensure proper site housekeeping
  • Train new Driller Assistants under guidance
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Driller or Field Supervisor

Required skills

  • Understanding of MSHA regulations and safety protocols
  • Experience with drilling operations or mining environments
  • Physical fitness to lift up to 55 lbs and work in harsh conditions
  • Current MSHA 5000-23 UG/Surface Certification
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and travel to various sites
  • Familiarity with emergency protocols and equipment maintenance
