Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a US Tax Lead for a growing manufacturer in Newmarket, Ontario. The role involves leading the preparation of the company's US income tax provisions, coordinating tax payments, managing audits, and collaborating with management on tax strategies and compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of the Group's US income tax provision for financial reporting.
  • Compile and review calculations of the effective US income tax rate.
  • Compute and coordinate remittance of estimated income tax payments at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Develop quarterly transfer pricing adjustment recommendations.
  • Assist with management of indirect tax processes as needed.
  • Manage correspondence and interactions with tax authorities.
  • Co-lead the income tax audit process and prepare responses to information requests.
  • Research and communicate trends in US federal and state income tax relevant to the business.
  • Manage accumulated earnings with focus on dividend recommendations.
  • Work with management on special projects and North American tax planning.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Business or Finance.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • 5-7 years of progressive US income tax experience.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS principles.
  • Experience in preparing financial statement notes relating to income taxes.
  • Working knowledge of US tax research tools and tax software.
  • Proven experience advising on complex US corporate income tax issues.
