Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a US Tax Lead to join a growing manufacturing client in Toronto, Ontario. This role involves leading the preparation of US income tax provisions, coordinating tax payments, managing relationships with tax authorities, and providing guidance on complex tax issues, all within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of the Group's US income tax provision for financial reporting.
  • Compile and review the calculation of the effective US income tax rate.
  • Compute and coordinate remittance of estimated income tax payments.
  • Coordinate and track relevant data for US income tax returns.
  • Develop quarterly transfer pricing adjustment recommendations.
  • Assist with management of indirect tax processes as needed.
  • Manage correspondence with tax authorities and reconcile income tax accounts.
  • Co-lead the income tax audit process and prepare responses for inquiries.
  • Collaborate in operational planning to identify tax withholding and liability issues.
  • Research and communicate trends in US federal and state income tax.
  • Manage accumulated earnings and dividend recommendations.
  • Work with CFO on special projects and North American tax planning.
  • Manage external service providers relating to US income tax matters.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Business or Finance
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • 5-7 years of progressive US income tax experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS principles
  • Experience in preparing financial statement notes related to income taxes
  • Working knowledge of US tax research tools and tax software
  • Proven experience advising on complex US corporate income tax issues
