Job Description

Overview

The Overlake School is seeking a US Assistant Speech and Debate Coach for the school year. This part-time role involves providing individual and group instruction to students in preparation for tournaments, while collaborating closely with the Head Coach and other staff to develop and maintain the program's philosophy and organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Support Head Coach in scheduling and organizing competitions
  • Collaborate with MS Debate to develop a universal philosophy for the program
  • Organize and implement debate trips in accordance with school policies
  • Assist with administrative duties related to tournaments
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding the program
  • Provide individual and group instruction for tournament preparation
  • Establish performance and academic requirements for participants
  • Work with team captains to set and meet individual and team goals
  • Ensure student safety by adhering to school rules
  • Manage competition sign-up and planning team practices
  • Provide basic medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries
