Overview

The U.S. Navy Officer role within the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) offers educational funding for students pursuing careers in healthcare fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, and clinical psychology. After completing their education, officers will serve on active duty, providing critical care to military service members and their families.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide critical care to service members and their families as a commissioned officer.
  • Serve a minimum of one year on active duty for each year of scholarship support.
  • Fulfill active duty obligations with specific service time requirements based on scholarship duration.

Required skills

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must not have reached the age of 42 at the time of entry onto active duty.
  • Physical qualifications for a commission as a Navy officer.
  • Acceptance to or enrollment in an accredited medical, dental, optometry, or physician assistant program.
