Job Description

Overview

Palm Health Resources is seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for their ICU in Newnan, Georgia. This full-time position involves providing clinical care for oncology patients during night shifts, working under the supervision of an Intensivist.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide patient care for patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies in the ICU or step-down unit
  • Record patient medical history and perform physical assessments
  • Develop therapeutic care plans and order diagnostic tests
  • Interpret test results and facilitate discharge planning
  • Educate patients on procedures, pharmacology, self-management of side effects, and community resources
  • Manage symptoms related to treatment toxicities
  • Facilitate communication regarding goals of care and end of life decision making
  • Collaborate with referring physicians and stakeholders
  • Comply with hospital by-laws and ensure entries in medical records are co-signed by attending physician
  • Prescribe medications as indicated and perform rounds in the Infusion Center or Inpatient Unit

Required skills

  • Masters degree in nursing with a specialty in a related field
  • Current Georgia RN license and Georgia Advance Practice-NP licenses
  • National Board certification (ANCC or AANP)
  • ACLS and BLS certification (or ability to obtain AHA certifications within 30 days of hire)
  • Strong medical skills in critical situations
  • Time management and task prioritization skills
  • Attention to detail
