Job Description

Overview

The Overlake School is seeking an Upper School Physics and Engineering Teacher to join their vibrant community in Redmond, WA. The role involves teaching advanced level courses, including AP Physics and Engineering, while fostering a supportive learning environment that honors diversity and promotes student engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach two sections of AP Physics, one section of Engineering and Design, and one section of Design Thinking
  • Attend and participate in school assemblies and events
  • Proctor exams, including finals and AP exams
  • Serve as an advisor or homeroom teacher
  • Chaperone student events and sponsor or advise student organizations
  • Hold office hours three days a week
  • Engage in professional development and department meetings
  • Maintain an accurate and updated learning management system
  • Collaborate with colleagues in and outside of department and grade-level teams

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, or related field
  • Experience designing and teaching advanced level courses, including AP courses
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with educational technology
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment styles
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships in a diverse classroom setting
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development
