Overview

Mutual of Omaha is seeking an experienced Underwriter IV to handle complex individual life insurance cases. This role necessitates a strong technical foundation, leadership abilities, and the capacity to make high-stakes underwriting decisions while collaborating closely with agents and field leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Underwrite complex individual life cases with mortality and financial impact exceeding $5 million.
  • Provide expert evaluation and guidance on underwriting decisions made by junior underwriters.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and build trusted relationships with agents and brokers.
  • Mentor and support junior underwriters while contributing to workflow quality and underwriting guidelines.
  • Stay current on products, regulations, and industry trends.

Required skills

  • Extensive individual life underwriting experience, including impaired risks and large case underwriting.
  • 5+ years of life underwriting experience with strong decision-making abilities.
  • Experience under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and compliance.
  • Completion of LOMA courses 280/281, 290, 311, 386, and ALU 101 & 201 or equivalent knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
