Overview

Mutual of Omaha is seeking an experienced Underwriter IV to manage complex individual life insurance cases. This role demands strong decision-making abilities and leadership skills, focusing on cases with significant mortality and financial impacts.

Key responsibilities

  • Underwrite complex individual life cases with mortality and financial impacts over $5 million.
  • Evaluate and guide underwriting decisions made by junior underwriters.
  • Build trusted relationships with agents, brokers, and field leadership.
  • Mentor underwriters and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to company guidelines and industry standards.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of life underwriting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of impaired risks and large case underwriting
  • Completion of LOMA 280/281, 290, 311, 386, and ALU 101 & 201 or equivalent
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • High level of independence and organizational skills
  • Experience with Accelerated Underwriting programs and/or Long-Term Care underwriting (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • FLMI, FALU, CLU designation completed or in progress (preferred)
