Overview

Pacific Life is seeking a talented Group Underwriter to join their Workforce Benefits team, which operates 100% remotely. This role involves collaborating closely with various internal teams and distribution partners to evaluate and select risk, while adhering to underwriting guidelines and fostering strong relationships within the industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select risk for profitable acquisition of new business.
  • Consult with distribution partners to provide suitable products and plan options.
  • Adhere to underwriting procedures while developing strong sales relationships.
  • Conduct high-quality risk assessments to meet business guidelines and metrics.
  • Identify and analyze risk trends and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Assist in training, technical development, and mentoring internal staff.
  • Support collaboration with product development, actuarial, and sales teams.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3+ years in group benefits underwriting
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills
  • Proficiency in communication, both verbal and written
  • Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Experience with group life, dental, vision, and supplemental health products
  • Comfortable learning and adopting new technologies
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with a customer-first approach
