In this position, the successful candidate is responsible for developing underwriting, relationship management, and risk assessment knowledge while supporting Account Managers, primarily on underwriting matters. Individuals in this role will complete underwriting training and professional development activities to build technical knowledge, business acumen, and client relationship skills as outlined in a specific development plan. It is expected that someone in this position will develop the skills, experience, and knowledge to achieve standard binding authority and transition into the Underwriter II role.RESPONSIBILITIES Support Account Managers in the execution of underwriting activities, including submission and values review, coverage evaluation, analysis of terms and conditions, rating and pricing, and capacity allocation.Develop and maintain a working knowledge of FM underwriting guidelines, policy forms, pricing methodologies, profitability analysis, and portfolio management principles.Assist in the design and analysis of insurance programs, gaining an understanding of FM's underwriting capacity, reinsurance structures, placement practices, and approvals processes.Prepare and review insurance documentation, including policies, binders, endorsements, and certificates, ensuring accuracy, contract certainty, and compliance with company standards.Learn and apply loss prevention and risk assessment concepts by reviewing risk reports and engineering information to identify exposures and support underwriting decisions.Build an understanding of clients' business operations, plans, and goals to support the development of effective client service strategies.Support client servicing activities by preparing presentations, proposals, and other meeting materials while developing effective communication and presentation skills.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Client Service, Claims, Operations, and Reinsurance, to support account management and underwriting objectives. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. CIP, CRM, ARM, or progress toward a professional insurance designation is an asset.2+ years of experience in insurance, risk management, client service, operations, engineering, or financial services preferred.Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills with a high level of attention to detail.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with the ability to analyze data, create presentations, and prepare professional business communications.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.Basic proficiency in the areas of Account Management, Business Communication, Exposure Analysis, Negotiation, Presentation Skills, Program Structure and Linesetting, and Relationship Management.Intermediate proficiency in the areas of Interpersonal Skills, Planning and Organizing, P
