Job Description

Overview

As an Underground Construction Technician at SPECTRUM, you will play a vital role in the construction and maintenance of the fiber optic network. This position requires a combination of technical skills and physical labor, including the operation of heavy machinery and the installation, repair, and location of fiber optic cables.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate construction equipment for fiber optic installation
  • Install, repair, and locate conduits, vaults, and fiber cables
  • Collaborate with Field Operations and contractors
  • Maintain records and ensure safety compliance on projects
  • Perform site restoration and post-construction tasks
  • Travel regularly, including overnight stays, for job assignments

Required skills

  • 2 - 4 years of OSP underground construction/maintenance experience
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of outside plant construction standards
  • Experience with fiber placement and equipment
  • CDL A and OSHA 10 certification preferred
