Job Description

Overview

The Trust Accountant at The Salvation Army will assist the Senior Investment Accountant in managing the organization's $2 billion investment portfolio, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. The role involves processing trust deposits and withdrawal requests, as well as performing various financial analyses and reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and reconcile key investment reports daily, monthly, and annually
  • Maintain detailed investment accounting records and review capital calls and distributions
  • Prepare wire transfers and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Communicate with investment custodians and external consultants for information requests
  • Monitor brokerage accounts and prepare employee pension plan journal entries
  • Assist in the preparation of Trust deposits and withdrawal requests
  • Review, analyze, and reconcile Trust funds monthly
  • Support annual external audits by preparing relevant schedules

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting
  • 3+ years of experience in general accounting or finance
  • Familiarity with SylogistMission ERP
  • Experience in investment accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills and data analysis proficiency
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality
