Job Description

Overview

The Township of Champlain is seeking a Truck Driver/Labourer in Vankleek Hill, Ontario. This role involves operating heavy machinery for road maintenance, snowplowing, and other municipal tasks, as well as performing minor mechanical repairs and assisting with water systems maintenance.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate graders, backhoes, trucks, snowplows, mowers, and other heavy machinery
  • Perform year-round maintenance on roads, equipment, and municipal buildings
  • Respond to emergency situations such as severe storms and road blockages
  • Complete written reports on roadwork and conditions
  • Assist with road construction and maintenance of water systems
  • Maintain logbooks for equipment operation and daily activities
  • Participate in staff training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High School diploma
  • One-year road-related program or equivalent experience
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and snowplowing
  • Valid Ontario DZ class Drivers License (Class AZ is an asset)
  • Bilingual communication skills (English and French)
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and road construction practices
  • Physical ability for manual labour
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certificate or willingness to be trained
  • Satisfactory current Police Criminal Record Check
