Overview

R.L. Barclay & Associates is seeking an experienced Trial Litigation Paralegal to support their Houston-based law firm. The role involves a wide range of administrative litigation support duties, focusing on trial preparation and document management within civil litigation contexts.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform administrative litigation support duties, including calendaring hearings and court appearances
  • Draft routine court filings adhering to jurisdictional requirements
  • Manage hard copy and electronic case files and correspondence
  • Conduct targeted internet research and retrieve case law from legal research platforms
  • Demonstrate advanced eDiscovery capabilities and manage document production processes
  • Perform cite-checking of legal briefs and memoranda
  • Organize and index legal documents to support case strategy
  • Provide support for deposition preparation and trial exhibit management
  • Communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the firm

Required skills

  • Minimum of 9 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
  • Bachelors degree and/or Paralegal certificate required
  • In-person trial attendance experience in civil litigation required
  • Well-versed in federal and state court procedures and e-filing
  • Experience with calendaring, docketing, document review, and production
  • Software experience with iManage, Trial Director, Reveal, and other eDiscovery tools
  • Solid knowledge of legal principles, litigation procedures, and court rules
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
