Job Description

Overview

The Transportation Planner at Carl Buddig & Company will assist the Transportation Director in managing and coordinating day-to-day transportation needs and special projects. This role is essential in ensuring high service levels and effective spend management within the company's logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Transportation Management with TMS optimization
  • Build and maintain relationships with carriers for timely deliveries
  • Assist in truck and carrier selection
  • Manage carriers to minimize loss, damage claims, and late fees
  • Schedule deliveries to meet customer requirements
  • Plan efficient routes and maximize truck utilization
  • Work closely with customer service to resolve issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate database using AS400
  • Assist in tracking shipments and improving the load planning process
  • Compile information for tracking and reporting
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for the Transportation Planner role
  • Implement process improvements within the transportation department

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Transportation Analyst, Coordinator or equivalent
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Data analysis skills
  • Strong customer service and project management skills
