Job Description

Overview

The Transport Driver operates Class A CDL vehicles to transport heavy construction equipment and materials across various job sites, yards, and vendor locations. This role is crucial for maintaining jobsite readiness through safe, compliant, and timely deliveries, requiring a strong understanding of DOT regulations and load securement practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of CDL vehicles including tractor-trailers and flatbeds
  • Ensure compliance with DOT hours-of-service regulations and conduct trip inspections
  • Maintain safe driving practices and adhere to traffic regulations
  • Load and unload heavy equipment using hydraulic ramps and securement tools
  • Conduct field assessments for safe loading and unloading procedures
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections following DOT guidelines
  • Report mechanical issues and jobsite hazards promptly
  • Maintain truck and trailer in inspection-ready condition
  • Utilize GPS and routing software for efficient deliveries
  • Track mileage, fuel, and trip logs using digital or manual systems
  • Coordinate pickups and drop-offs across multiple project sites
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Valid Class A CDL with current medical certificate
  • 3-5 years of CDL driving experience, preferably in heavy equipment or construction
  • Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations
  • Proficient in operating excavators, backhoes, and heavy equipment
  • Ability to use route-planning tools and fleet software systems
  • Mechanical awareness and understanding of trailer and rig systems
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass drug/alcohol screenings
