Overview

Trailer Tech One is seeking an experienced Trailer Builder / Mechanic to join their team in Erie, Michigan. The company specializes in custom enclosed transport trailers and is dedicated to building high-performance transport solutions for the automotive industry. The role involves hands-on fabrication and mechanical work on various trailer systems and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and assemble custom car trailers
  • Install and service hydraulic pumps, cylinders, hoses, valves, winch systems, sliding decks, lift systems, and electrical controls
  • Fabricate and modify trailer components
  • Perform trailer wiring and lighting installation
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical issues
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
  • Ensure trailers meet DOT and FMCSA safety standards
  • Perform trailer repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance
  • Work closely with the fabrication and production team

Required skills

  • Experience with hydraulics
  • Trailer building or trailer mechanic experience
  • Mechanical, fabrication, and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of DOT trailer regulations and compliance
  • Experience with hydraulic systems, winches, trailer wiring, air brake systems, welding, and fabrication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • CDL is a plus
