Job Description

Overview

The Trailer Technician II at Koch Trucking is responsible for advanced maintenance and repairs on trailer units, focusing on DOT compliance and various systems such as electrical, braking, and structural components. This role requires independent work while maintaining a safe environment and professionalism within the team and with customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform advanced maintenance and repairs on trailer units
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal DOT regulations
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostics on tires, lights, bodywork, suspension, and electrical systems
  • Adjust and inspect air and electric brake systems, including full air brake replacements
  • Troubleshoot and repair air ride systems and landing gear
  • Perform structural repairs including roof patching and door replacements
  • Conduct electrical repairs including wiring and ABS sensor replacements
  • Order necessary parts and maintain a clean work area
  • Represent the company with courtesy and professionalism
  • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of trailer maintenance experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and computerized maintenance systems
  • Understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations related to trailer maintenance
  • Ability to lift and move 50 lbs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
