Overview

The Traffic Signals Installer at E-Z Bel Construction is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and installation of traffic signal systems and related equipment based on engineered specifications. This outdoor role demands physical stamina and adherence to strict safety standards while working with overhead and underground wiring, as well as operating specialized equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, and install traffic signal systems and related devices according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret intersection layouts and engineered schematics.
  • Pull, route, and splice overhead and underground wires, ensuring correct color coding.
  • Assemble and install signal poles, mast arms, and brackets using proper techniques.
  • Install and configure detection systems and battery backup systems.
  • Operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts for positioning traffic signals.
  • Perform voltage, continuity, and signal testing with diagnostic tools.
  • Follow MUTCD, OSHA, and company standards for safety and installation.
  • Maintain organized wiring in cabinets and junction boxes.
  • Document installations and report any discrepancies or safety hazards.
  • Perform traffic control and flagging duties as needed.

Required skills

  • 1-5 years of experience in traffic signal installation or electrical work
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of MUTCD, OSHA, and TxDOT standards
  • Skilled in operating bucket trucks and aerial lifts
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks at heights
  • Valid Drivers License
