Job Description

Overview

The Traffic Control Technician at RoadSafe Traffic Systems is responsible for setting up and taking down lane closures to ensure safety on state highways and other roadways. This role involves working both independently and as part of a traffic control crew, transporting equipment to job sites, and adhering to safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and takedown lane closures for traffic control projects
  • Redirect traffic for workers or survey crews
  • Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment
  • Drive MOT and TMA vehicles to and from worksites
  • Place temporary construction signs in work areas
  • Monitor work zone to ensure safety equipment remains properly placed
  • Collect and load traffic control items at shift start and end
  • Install, remove, and reset traffic control devices and signage
  • Follow safety rules and regulations
  • Adhere to company policies and perform additional assigned duties

Required skills

  • Valid Driver's License
  • 1-3 years of traffic control experience with 2,000 field hours
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug tests
  • Basic reading and writing ability for compliance with road signs and paperwork
  • Knowledge of federal and state motor carrier safety regulations
  • Ability to read and implement traffic control plans
  • Good knowledge of state and local roadways
  • Ability to operate delivery vehicles of varying sizes
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds
  • Completion of ATSSA TCT intermediate training course
  • Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours as required
  • Mechanical background or experience (preferred)
