Job Description

Overview

RoadSafe Traffic Systems is looking for a Traffic Control Technician to ensure the safety of traffic control projects by setting up and taking down lane closures. This role requires operating vehicles to transport materials and equipment, as well as working independently or as part of a team in various roadway environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and take down lane closures on state highways and other roadways
  • Redirect traffic for workers or survey crews
  • Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment
  • Drive MOT and TMA vehicles to and from projects
  • Place temporary construction signs and set up traffic safety devices
  • Monitor work zones to ensure proper placement of items
  • Collect and load traffic control items at the beginning and end of shifts
  • Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports
  • Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Follow safety rules and regulations
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Complete other work-related duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Valid Driver's License
  • 1-3 years of experience and 2,000 in field hours in traffic control
  • Ability to pass background check and drug test
  • Basic reading and writing skills for compliance with road signs and paperwork
  • Knowledge of federal and state motor carrier safety regulations
  • Ability to read plans and implement traffic control plans
  • Good knowledge of state and local roadways
  • Experience operating delivery vehicles of varying sizes
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds
  • Successful completion of the ATSSA TCT intermediate training course
  • Willingness to travel statewide and work nights and weekends as required
  • Mechanical background/experience (preferred)
