Job Description

Overview

The Traffic Control Technician at RoadSafe Traffic Systems is responsible for setting up and dismantling lane closures while ensuring the safety of traffic control projects. This role includes working independently or as part of a team, managing traffic for various projects, and handling safety equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and take down lane closures on highways and roadways
  • Redirect traffic for workers or survey crews
  • Operate company trucks to transport materials to job sites
  • Drive MOT and TMA vehicles during projects
  • Place temporary construction signs and setup traffic safety devices
  • Monitor work zone safety throughout shifts
  • Collect and load traffic control items at shift's start and end
  • Perform maintenance and repair on equipment
  • Follow safety rules and comply with company policies
  • Complete other work-related duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Valid Driver's License
  • 1-3 years of experience in traffic control
  • 2,000 hours in the field
  • Background check clearance
  • Pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements
  • Ability to read and write for compliance with road signs and paperwork
  • Knowledge of federal and state motor carrier safety regulations
  • Good knowledge of local roadways and experience with delivery vehicles
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds
  • Completion of the ATSSA TCT intermediate training course
  • Willingness to travel statewide and work nights or weekends as needed
  • Mechanical background/experience (preferred)
