Job Description

Overview

Northwest Traffic Control Services is seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor to oversee daily traffic control operations and crew management throughout Northern New Jersey. The role involves ensuring safety compliance, maintaining equipment, and effective communication with customers and contractors.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision of traffic control crews and field employees
  • Manage daily crew assignments and support field operations
  • Perform jobsite visits to ensure safety and compliance with company standards
  • Oversee traffic control setups and ensure adherence to MUTCD standards
  • Serve as a customer liaison and communicate with contractors and internal team members
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports as needed
  • Oversee maintenance and proper use of traffic control equipment
  • Conduct toolbox safety talks and employee training
  • Assist with employee coaching and performance issues
  • Handle safety incident reporting and follow-up
  • Drive company vehicles as needed

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Prior traffic control, roadway construction, or field operations experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Knowledge of traffic control equipment and work zone safety
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime
