Job Description

Overview

As a Toolmaker III, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing advanced tooling solutions for manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for designing, fabricating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex tools, dies, molds, and fixtures, while leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and efficiency gains.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications to identify tooling requirements
  • Utilize CAD software to create 2D and 3D models of tooling components
  • Direct Toolmaker I and II staff on daily tasks
  • Operate precision machine tools, including CNC machines and EDM machines
  • Conduct inspections and dimensional checks using advanced metrology equipment
  • Lead cross-functional teams in optimizing tooling designs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for tooling assets
  • Generate comprehensive documentation for design and maintenance
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior toolmakers

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience working with molds and dies
  • 5+ years of experience as a Toolmaker
  • Proficient in using CNC machines, grinders, and lathes
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of safety protocols
  • Ability to pass overhead crane and forklift certifications
  • Proficient with shop mathematics and interpreting specifications
  • Knowledge of various steel grades and coatings
