Job Description

Overview

As a Toolmaker III at Strohwig Industries, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing advanced tooling solutions for manufacturing processes. Your role involves designing, fabricating, and maintaining complex tools, dies, molds, and fixtures while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and efficiency gains.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints to identify tooling requirements.
  • Utilize CAD software to create 2D and 3D models of tooling components.
  • Direct Toolmaker I and II staff on daily tasks.
  • Operate precision machine tools, including CNC machines and lathes.
  • Conduct inspections and dimensional checks with metrology equipment.
  • Assemble and fit intricate tooling components, verifying functionality.
  • Lead teams in developing and optimizing tooling designs.
  • Troubleshoot tooling-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs for tooling assets.
  • Generate documentation for design records, modification logs, and maintenance reports.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a Toolmaker and working with molds and dies.
  • Proficient in CAD software and various precision machine tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions and work as part of a team.
  • Experience with shop mathematics and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to operate cranes and forklifts.
  • Proficient in timing and fitting die components.
