Overview

The Toolmaker I position at Clayens US LLC involves troubleshooting and maintaining magnesium injection molds, performing preventative maintenance, and operating various tool room equipment in a multi-shift manufacturing environment. The role requires attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining mold history records and completing engineering changes with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair injection molds to support production requirements
  • Repair cavities and cores due to damage or wear
  • Complete engineering changes and revisions to injection molds
  • Manufacture and replace tooling components with high accuracy
  • Maintain accurate mold history and maintenance records
  • Build fixtures and gauges as needed
  • Observe health and safety requirements and maintain a clean work area

Required skills

  • Basic understanding of mold components and molding processes
  • Intermediate print reading skills and knowledge of GD&T
  • Familiarity with tool room equipment, including CNC milling and surface grinders
  • Knowledge of mold polishing and machining tools
  • Ability to set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders
  • Proficient in using precision measuring instruments
  • Basic understanding of metallurgy and injection mold materials
  • Basic ability to 3D model and create CNC programming
  • Experience with Solidworks and solid CAM software preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interpret documents
