Overview

The Timber Plant Maintenance Technician at West Fraser is responsible for maintaining and operating the planer machine in a lumber processing facility. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and operating procedures, performing both minor and preventive maintenance, and assisting in major repairs as necessary.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and safety protocols
  • Perform critical measurements using a caliper
  • Monitor and maintain the setup of the planer machine
  • Feed the planer and ensure constant lumber flow
  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance, including lubrication
  • Change knives for the planer machine
  • Assist with maintenance repairs to other machines as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping as assigned
